I was asked a couple of questions by the London Hairdressing Academy about Bridal Hair… Check out their article… HERE
Here is some inspiration for any brides to be deciding on what hair to have on their wedding day… This is one of my brides, Rachel…
Speedy Tips for Busy Mums – hair advice featured in InsideKent Magazine: You can read it in their online issues.
It is my wedding anniversary today – fourteen years married to my very lovely, sexy hubby, and it got me thinking all romantically about what is trending in the world of weddings… So many brides are opting away from white, and are looking for a little colour… and just a hint of pink on a wedding day adds lots of romance… Just a shade glowing with radiance, emulating that flush of subtle crimson that shone across your cheeks when you first fell in love – That same blush that you felt tingle through your body during your first kiss… just that perfect amount of pink… You see, I said I was in a slushy mood ;o)
Some ladies just don’t do pink, but you can embrace a palette of paler shades… it is an ultra romantic choice of theme; with lightweight fabrics, birdcages, candelabras, and soft tones paired with traditional ivories or contrasting dusky blues or muted minks. The whole day will have a floaty, magical vibe, almost as though the event is happening in soft focus.
It is important to get the choice of ‘blush’ accurate otherwise you may end up clashing reds with pinks and corals with purples. To avoid your colours looking wish-washy, ensure you pop some silver, rose gold or crystal into your overall theme; these will lift the paleness, adding depth and glamour. If ‘glitz and glam’ is not your thing, then opt for wild flowers and lots of deep green foliage to balance out the softness of the day. Wild flowers look amazing in the hair, as do sparkly hair accessories, so make sure you bring some thing extra to your hairstyle.
Above is an image of Anna Williamson, a TV presenter… we did this shoot for a cover of a magazine, and this gives inspiration for how colour can be worn subtly on your wedding day, as well as tonal shades of silk flowers in the hair.
This look was created with extra Balmain hair extensions added to Anna’s already lovely locks. Check out more on my bridal website on http://www.vickilordbridalhair.co.uk

My intricate princess tail is still a popular stye for brides, and the vintage curl or Marcel wave is still one of my favourites, and still very much a bridal top choice too… but my latest creation, I must say… I am in love with (don’t tell my husband hehehe)… it is the bridal mohawk… which is something I initially styled on an avant garde photo shoot, and then adapted on my sister… and now I offer it to brides – it is truly stunning, and very future forward.
Because this look is so future forward, it looks fab with modern vintage, and perfect for the eccentric bride. Paired with a classic simple cut dress – it looks stunning… it also looks great with floaty wedding dresses, because it is such a structured intricate hairstyle it contrasts beautifully with delicate fabrics.
Every bride inspires me…. because each time I work with brides, I realise even more so that each woman is different in what they want for their special day… each one very unique in their hair choices too, and often I find that brides want a style that is completely different to the way they usually wear their hair…
Check out one of my beautiful brides photographed above… She combines the stunning structure of the Marcel wave, often worn over one shoulder by brides, we decided on it falling over both of her bare shoulders… this compliments her super sexy, super glam low cur wedding dress, mainly because it is off the shoulder and symmetrical. The slide in her hair is subtle and picks up on the intricate beading and detail of her dress… And because her dress is so detailed, the simple but perfect hair really sets it off. Her dark hair matches her defined dark eyes and eyebrows and as her hair lightens towards the dress, the softens the whole look.
This is an ultra glam, sexy bridal look, that really combines the modern woman with the vintage vibe.
Be inspired by other brides!
I just had to share images of one of my recent beautiful brides… How much do you love the hair?! Thought so – me too… If you are a bride-to-be – Do you see yourself wearing your hair like this? Don’t worry if your hair is shorter – you may have time to grow it – also I always carry enough Balmain extensions.
This is so elegant and regal from the back, and the front is a little bit boho, with the braid detail and so this style is perfect for young, modern brides.
