Ultimate Wedding Mag is a super duper interactive wedding magazine and they have featured some of my work see above, as well as a tutorial…
I am thrilled to have worked with such a great team on this, as it is the UK’s only fully interactive wedding magazine and it means that you can dowmload their latest issue and read my articles via the APP store or check out their website: CLICK HERE.
Here are my top three of celebrity mums who have gorgeous hair, and reasons why their style suits them! I have no knowledge of what they are like as mums… but I do know they have great hair! (No particular order)…
Kim Kardashian: Whilst she may change her colour slightly, or have her style altered a little – she sticks to a formula that works for her… long, dark luscious locks (even her blonde choices are warm, and keep dark running through). She can go full or sleek, and mostly wears it centre parting and this works for her as it balances out her full, curvy figure. Her hair is ultra feminine just like her overall look. Her layers shape her face, but are kept long, so she can still tie it back, and she suits it pulled back too, but only because she has a nice long ponytail swinging behind her to keep it all very feminine. Whilst she probably has a stylist on speed dial, her style is well cut, so she could wash and dry and style a little then go.
Gwen Stefani: She really is cool… and many have copied her iconic platinum blonde hair including Rita Ora… Gwen is retro but modern if that makes sense and even back during her No Doubt days she rocked it and still does, especially as she includes her poppy red lipstick with her look – bringing that touch of vintage to her makeup too. If you are going for a similar look remember that this one is super high maintenance, but punches an impact in the school playground at your kids’ pick up time.
Emma Willis: Currently presenting The Voice on BBC, this little lady clearly looks after herself – what a figure for being a mum! She looks great! Plus love her hair – she proves that short can be super sexy and versatile… mostly choosing to wear it sleek, but on last weekend’s show she went with a slicked back, wet look with height – it suits her chiselled features and the dark colour makes her blue eyes really sparkle.
I was asked by the editorial team at insideKENT to write a piece for their wedding special, out now. As a continual trend from last year, I opted for vintage looks… so if you are a bride that would like to add a touch of vintage or a particular decade to the theme of your wedding then grab your copy for my hair tips.
Thanks! Loved working with InsideKENT!

I have been doing yoga for literally years – not only do I get an overall balance, and feel great physically, but it has health benefits for me too. I am lucky enough to be able to practise yoga without having to worry about how I wear my hair, because the front part of my hair that would usually get in the way of my eyes and face is cut back to a blunt fringe, and the rest of my hair is short enough not to become too hot or sweaty or fall in my face.
Long hair can do just that right? I practised when I had long hair, and it just gets in the way! It doesn’t matter how many photos you see circulating the internet of perfectly executed poses with the person with hair loose and looking lovely, in reality we all know that there would be sweat, and maybe tears, but defo random strands of hair all over the place if not literally all over your face… Unless I was at the shoot to fix it just before the camera clicked ;o)
Here is what I would suggest you do with your lovely locks before your yoga practice if you have long hair or a choppy haircut, that could get in the way…
Wear a top knot, as long as you can achieve this with just a hair band and no grips. It needs to be secure, but you don’t want anything to dig in when you are in certain poses. And you also do not want it to be too tight, as you can create tension.
Avoid normal Alice bands, as they can easily slide off, leaving you looking for a loose hair accessory whilst trying to breath in downward facing dog. It will probably end up around your neck, leaving your hair back in your face and your focus away from the flow.
Avoid hard or plastic hair bands, as they can dig in, and if they do fall off will be dangerous – so opt for the zigzag sort. They don’t really dig in, are adjustable and quite flexible.
Go for a side bun or pigtails, instead of securing hair at the mid or low centre of the head, as you will feel uncomfortable when doing lying down poses.
French braids are great, as they keep all of your hair neatly tucked away and is quite flat, put it is still better to create the braid to one side instead of down the back.
Avoid clean hair, especially if you have sleek hair, as your hair tie or band will probably keep sliding off and leaving your hair loose. Damp or greasy hair are good for tying back…. you can always wash it after practice.
If you do choose to grip your hair away, then the Linziclip (available from Amazon) has a flat surface and it can easily be taken in and out of your hair in-between poses, and is less hassle than a hair tie… so it maybe a good idea to have one in your yoga bag as a back up, along with a zig-zag hair band.
Looking back at Paris Haute Couture Week earlier this year, I can see that flowers dominated the catwalks… flowers create a light and fairy, almost fantasy feel to a look, and when they are doing it on the high fashion runway, it isn’t long before it filters down to fashion, then high street, and of course to brides too! But if you have read one of my previous posts or seen any of my previous images on my bridal site, you’ll know that I am a fan of using fresh flowers in the hair I style for shoots and for my brides – and it just looks lovely when they are seasonal… so if it is good enough for Naomi Campbell wearing Jean Paul Gaultier on the wedding parade, then my brides-to-be let’s talk about what flowers are seasonal for your wedding this year – and walking down the aisle will be more like walking down the runway!
